More than the stars have written.
29 09 2009Is it the destiny of woman to be caged up from birth to her decease?
She may spend her entire life under custody of her parents, fighting for independence and free will. When she finally finds it in the man who has stolen her heart, she feels liberated, free to escape the ball and chain of her parents, only to realise that ownership of her life has now been surrendered to the next legal custodian, her husband.
Love is deceit. A woman chases dreams, only to become a maiden of service.
And then fulfilled.

The stars are always the same..
27 05 2009no matter where in the world you are.
You just look up into the night sky and you know that a million miles away, someone is gazing at that same composition of twinkles over the dark ocean of night.
Apparently, it’s what helps us to navigate. The stars were nature’s map, and the secrets to the future. Seamen, astrologers, philosophers and nomads have probably relied on the stars most of their waking lives to show them the way.
But here today, we neglect this wondrous map strewn across the sky. The night that holds many secrets, the key to life’s greatest questions… Who am i? What is my destiny? The stars will reveal truths, but only when sought.
Wherever my trails may roam
Dear god
I pray those stars may guide me home.

Something I got in the e-mail today…
25 11 2008Get Rid of the Performance Review!
It destroys morale, kills teamwork and hurts the bottom line. And that’s just for starters.
You can call me “dense,” you can call me “iconoclastic,” but I see nothing constructive about an annual pay and performance review. It’s a mainstream practice that has baffled me for years.
To my way of thinking, a one-side-accountable, boss-administered review is little more than a dysfunctional pretense. It’s a negative to corporate performance, an obstacle to straight-talk relationships, and a prime cause of low morale at work. Even the mere knowledge that such an event will take place damages daily communications and teamwork.
The alleged primary purpose of performance reviews is to enlighten subordinates about what they should be doing better or differently. But I see the primary purpose quite differently. I see it as intimidation aimed at preserving the boss’s authority and power advantage. Such intimidation is unnecessary, though: The boss has the power with or without the performance review. Some People…
4 11 2008… They grow, and evolve.
And some people they don’t, because they don’t see the benefit of it.
Some they always think of others, some only think about themselves.
Some just watch the world fly by, while they sit in their little sofas and hog the remote.
Some fly all over the world, to see the different behaviours and patterns
of Some People.

LSE (Low Self Esteem)
8 10 2008Dear R,
Would you like to be a part of a filming project that we’re planning? We intend to round-up a few back-up musicians for MD while we interview him on how music brings everyone together.
That’s it. There was no rehearsal, we hardly even knew what we were going to play. And there were already 3 others on guitars. What else was I supposed to do but what comes most natural to me .. singing.
I did my best impromptu. I made up my own lyrics. Heck, I don’t even sing the blues!
I thought it went quite well.
That is, until he said: You would be good with more practice.

Circles
8 09 2008We want what we don’t have.
And when we do have, we don’t want.
Why must it be so complex? I have felt the solace when I see the people around me with partners. Yet when I hear about their problems, I feel glad that I am unbounded and free to do what and who I please.
I am an affectionate individual, but running away at the slightest hint of romance for the safeguarding of the heart. How ironic that we must keep ourselves away from the things that make us feel good.
The path becomes a labyrinth when we don’t really know what we want ultimately.
Til we dance away
Chasing me all around
Leading me all around
Leading me all around in circles… (Dave Matthews Band)

I am Liz Lemon!
26 08 2008Ever watch 30 Rock? Liz Lemon is a “New York third-wave feminist, college-educated, single-and-pretending-to-be-happy-about-it, overscheduled, undersexed, s you buy any magazine that says ‘healthy body image’ on the cover and every two years you take up knitting for…a week.” Yes for the most part - I am Liz Lemon.
The character is played by Tina Fey and yes as much I am trying to avoid the crime in rhyme – I WOULD GO GAY FOR TINA FEY. Touche! I must have a thing for pseudo nerds who don’t try to be cool by being dorky and are just truly dorky and that makes them hot. One such example being about a slightly more attainable then the great Ms. Fey – let’s just call him *Semut. He’s like the rocker version of your average Dungeons & Dragons nerd. He smiles a lot, the kind that shows a lot of TEETH. And most recently – I found out he writes almost exactly how he talks. Sound effects and all. It’s indeed very intriguing.
To quote Ruz’s entry below - “…these (bars/clubs) are not the best of places to meet a man. In fact, the library might be a better option. As for me, I think I will try my hunting in an airport or on a plane.”… where would I go?

the Watering Hole.
23 08 2008I had a terrible stomach pain yesterday (I still do in fact, a reduced version), and was determined to cancel whatever plans it was I had last night. A lady friend of mine wanted to go and meet some newfoundfriends from the almighty Facebook at TwentyOne.
After much talk and Maya’s persistence, I ended up going too: SOCIAL OBLIGATION.
SO off we went to the city, battling traffic and bitching about idiotic drivers surrounding. Off to a great start.
We were expecting 2 kinds, a man (37) and a boy (24), while all of us girls fell into the range between the two. Ideally, the man would have been the preferred choice because everyone knows that women like older men. But we were not prepared to be proven wrong.
37 was old-looking, Italian, and wore a shirt that would not button all the way to the collar (too tight, or something). He brought another friend, could be a couple of years younger who was also Italian, but didn’t share the same DOM* appearance. Both did not consume any alcohol.
THE ITALIAN STRATEGY: Man stays completely sober. Brings woman over to house. Gives her lots of red wine. Does not let her out until the next morning.
After sometime, 24 turns up dressed very decent. Apparently, a law student from a public university. Quiet, stands in the corner, cannot shake hands with people properly. Only talks to one person.
LAW STUDENT: Shy and underexposed. What the hell is he doing in a place like this???
After a while, the 37 and friend move to the entrance to the toilet, undressing with their eyes every woman or girl that passes. Making moves on strangers, dances like a Chippendale.
We make like a banana and split. And went to KFC to bitch about the opposite sex.
My advice (which someone once gave me) is that these are not the best of places to meet a man. In fact, the library might be a better option. As for me, I think I will try my hunting in an airport or on a plane.
*Dirty Old Man
