Nothing Like Hot Chocolate…

21 08 2008

while it’s raining outside. It’s simply brilliant. And did you know that hot chocolate or anything with a milk base makes your stomach feel full? (Bless, bless…)

I’m struggling to resist the urge to eat lunch (again). After nuking last night’s cous cous and fried chicken and eating it just before 1 pm, my colleagues invited me out for my all-time favourite Nasi Padang. The thought of it was so tempting that I was almost out the door before I stopped and scolded myself.

What am I doing?! I just HAD lunch…

:(

So I spent my lunch break learning up some new songs on the guitar for practice sake… since I’ve been invited to play backup for MD himself in a video shoot! Exciting stuff… though I’m crap at it, compared to him.

Must stop getting distracted and write speech pointers for the Minister. I’M SLEEPY!

On a side note: Looking forward to tonight :D

Protocol & Formality are so Colonial

20 08 2008

For once, I have found something that the almighty Wiki could not help me with!

I googled (it’s a verb!) the terms Yang Berhormat and Yang Berbahagia which are the formal terms used to address esteemed individuals in Malaysian society who carry titles (similar to “Lord” or “Sir”).

As expected with the infamous Google, I got a few pages of results, of which only one was of help at all. So I am posting it here for those of you who need a quick reference tool on how to use these honorifics when addressing the bloomin’ big wigs:

  • Yang Berhormat : for politicians
  • Yang Berusaha : for civil servants
  • Yang Berbahagia : for the public

Wikipedia’s article, unfortunately just ended up being extremely confusing. However, it was helpful when it comes to royal salutations:

  • Yang Teramat Mulia is used by the children of reigning Sultans (except in Negeri Sembilan) and by the Dato’ Kelana, the Undang of Sungai Ujong in Negeri Sembilan
  • Yang Amat Mulia is used by the children of the ruler of Negeri Sembilan and Johor, the Undang of Jelebu, Johol and Rembau and the Tunku Besar of Tampin in Negeri Sembilan
  • Yang Mulia is used for other heirs and heiresses, who are the descendants of royal families.

Take me to the movies

19 08 2008

I just received this message from my copywriter on my Gtalk a few minutes ago:

I’ve made it my mission in life to tell people how damn bloody wonderful Wall-E is. So, if you haven’t already, I beg of you, go watch it. Run, steal, skip work if you must.

I don’t think the movie needs yet another review from another common blogger, so all I will say is it is a beautiful story. And quite a tearjerker…

At work, this is what I do

18 08 2008

It certainly isn’t what I’m supposed to do… or rather what they pay me to do.

It’s Monday and I just can’t properly get into the swing of things. I feel good, I had a wonderful weekend and I am receiving pleasant little notifications from Facebook this morning.

Though it’s not like this every Monday, I’m just not getting into the swing of work. So I signed up for a wordpress blog in hopes of some brain ejaculation.

Every time I like someone, he is never the “right” one. Unfortunately, the word you see within the quotation marks has been predefined by my parents. It’s scary how we create filters to find the perfect partner: race, religion, size, amongst a million other things. In doing this, we stand a chance of overlooking the right one. Because people do change, don’t they? I mean so what if he doesn’t want children now, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a chance that he will in the future

So the ideal is to wade through life keeping the mind open as an ocean. That’s it, I refuse to succumb to the prejudices and stereotypes of traditionalists. I will do my part to spread love and understanding, and inspire the minds of others to teach these values too.

So long, nazis.
